Baby/ infant massage course

Baby/Infant Massage is a very old parenting tradition that has been modernized and is in active use today supported by evidence-based research. There is recorded history of the use and practice of infant massage amongst many different cultures around the globe. In the last half of the last century, in the early 70’s infant massage began to appear in the western world.

Infant massage is a bonding activity between parents and their children. In the most basic terms, infant or pediatric massage refers to the process of stroking the muscles of an infant using a variety of specialized massage techniques. Vocalization, eye-to-eye contact, and other positive behavioral reinforcements are also important components of the massage.

At Mama Bear Midwife Care, our trained instructors offer baby massage techniques by International Loving Touch.

We train you in small groups during a 4 week course, weekly for a 1.5-hour class.

Come with your newborn (3 weeks to 6 months old baby) and learn the beauty of loving touch. Check our calendar for availability. Courses hold max 5 spaces and begin on the first Wednesday of each month.

Lactation tea meet-up

We at Mama Bear invite you as newborn parents to come for a lactation tea meet-up every Thursday at 10am till noon. Let’s talk about how you are doing, changes you go through, baby’s development, life as a parent and more. Anything you would like to share or wish a professional thought about, please feel free to open you heart and talk about it.

We try to hold space and always be respectful to each other. Let’s be community and grow together. It takes a village to raise a child. AND: it takes a lot of adults to support a new parent to grow into their new position and title. We can do it together, you don’t have to do it alone.

Lactation Prep class

At Mama Bear Midwife Care we love to teach you all about lactation and how to be successful right from the start. We help you to learn useful tips to prepare your breasts for the strong suction of your baby. We give postive advise on feeding on demand, how to calm your baby without non stop nipple offering, and wish you to become a happy breast-/ chest feeding parent.

We can connect you to a breast pump provider and order one pump for you in advance.

Sound Healing

Mama Bear Midwife Care offers monthly a sound healing evening relaxation class presented by a local sound healer.

Having restorative tools at one’s disposal in this delicate time can help prepare for such a profound event. The soothing effect of sound healing tools such as tuning forks and singing bowls can be of precious help in calming and stabilising the nervous system* and promoting feelings of safety and confidence.

Come and dive into the relaxing world of sound healing, connect to your baby with the sound of  ancient instruments and enjoy the journey into your relaxing self by being transported through sound.

Take this experience in pregnancy to your birth, using vocal toning to accompany the necessary physical movements as a powerful way of supporting one’s process.

After the birth, helping the nervous system settle into its parasympathetic response is a valuable support when the production of certain hormones is fundamental for the bonding process.
